Lesley was born in Gosport and grew up locally in Forton.
She started her career in the military aged 18 and served in both the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. In 1995 she left the armed forces and joined Hampshire Constabulary where she worked in Portsmouth, Havant and Netley in various policing roles.
In 2002, Lesley returned to her home town of Gosport to work as a community police sergeant in the town. She recently retired from this role in October 2017.
Lesley lives on the boundary of the Town ward and is just a short walk away from her long term partner Jonathan. She shares her home with her daughter, who is studying at St Vincent College alongside their much loved dogs Claude & Violette.
Lesley is driven to campaign to raise awareness of the lack of mental health provision for young people in the Borough as well as accessing and receiving ongoing tangible support. She believes the impact of the lack of service in the local area cannot be underestimated.
Leisure facilities are an interest of Lesley’s and she is excited to see the redevelopment of the play park in Alver Valley as well as the new leisure centre providing access to a wealth of activities for so many. However Lesley would like to further improve health & wellbeing for those who, for a myriad of reasons, may find accessing such facilities very difficult.
Lesley is currently employed by Motiv8 a charity organisation whose focus is improving life chances for young people. Her work in the organisation includes providing interactive workshops for parents and young people challenging adolescent to parent violence within the home environment and developing healthy relationships.
As well as working for a charitable organisation, Lesley has hosted numerous charity events, raising funds for both local and national charities such as Hounds for Hero's, Autism Hampshire, Diabetic research, and Gosport and Fareham Basics Bank. These events have ranged from themed garden parties to entering a local body building competition!
Lesley is also a qualified fitness instructor and trains with others outside in her garden all year round.
Lesley cares passionately about her home town and the communities within it. She is proud of our local heritage and our stunning coastline. Having built up excellent local community links as a police officer, it is for Lesley a natural step to become actively involved in the local council. Her level of care and compassion for the community cannot be underestimated.
