This STEM Centre, the first in the country to be based within a school, will open up a host of opportunities for all Gosport pupils inspiring learning and bringing career opportunities to life.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Caroline said:
“It is fantastic that the Secretary of State has agreed to open the Gosport STEM Centre later this week.
As we look towards the future, we know we need equip our young people with skills to succeed. This new STEM Centre will make a big difference for local children for years to come.”
Ian Potter, Chief Executive of the Gosport and Fareham Multi-Academy Trust said:
“The GFM is really proud and pleased to be opening the Gosport STEM Centre because of the opportunities it will bring to the young people of the town and the wider community. It is the only the STEM centre in the country based within a school, with the National STEM Centre based in York. It therefore puts Gosport on the national map for the initiative it demonstrates in how our schools are moving forward with STEM related teaching.
There are so many employment opportunities in the local area connected with STEM industry and so we are committed to understanding how an engineer thinks and works being a significant part of our provision in our schools.”
