KEY ACHIEVEMENTS NUMBER 19: DELIVERING EVEL PETITION TO PARLIAMENT

After the Scottish Referendum in 2014, it was clear that action needed to be taken to prevent Scottish MPs from voting on English-only issues. I set up a petition both online and in my Gosport office, calling for English votes for English issues to be introduced to the House of Commons as soon as possible. Almost 400 local people signed the petition and in the last week of Parliament, I formerly delivered it to the Speaker in the Chamber of the House of Commons.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS NUMBER 20: SECURING FUNDING FOR NEW SPORTS FACILITIES

Having excellent sporting facilities in our area not only helps maintain a healthy community, it can also help to develop new talent amongst our young sport players. I worked closely with Bay House School and Bridgemary School to secure funding for their new facilities – a brand new sports hall and a cutting edge 3G football pitch respectively. Bay House's new hall is almost ready to go and the new pitch at Bridgemary was opened earlier this year. Both of these facilities will be used by community sports teams as well as school students.
