Today, the Gosport Independent Panel held a meeting with families affected by the publication earlier this year of their report into deaths at the Gosport War Memorial Hospital between 1988 and 2000.
Since becoming Member of Parliament for the Gosport Constituency in 2010, Caroline has been determined to support those constituents who have contacted her who were affected by events at the Hospital to get access to the facts. Unfortunately, however data protection rules have prevented her pro-actively contacting these constituents, or even finding out who they are.
To that end, she has published an open letter to the Chair of the Gosport Independent Panel which was read out at the families meeting earlier today. You can read that letter here.
Commenting Caroline said:
"I have always supported the families of the deceased to get the full facts and answers they have been demanding for far too long. It breaks my heart that, along the way, some relatives have passed away, never knowing the truth of what happened to their loved ones, never seeing justice.
My team and I stand ready to offer help and support to any residents of the Gosport constituency affected by the Gosport Independent Panel's Report."
The Department of Health & Social Care have also put in place a support package for those affected by events at the Gosport War Memorial – call 01132545290 or e-mail gosportenquiries@dh.gsi.gov.uk
