“It is crucial that people receive the right care at the right time. This extra funding will ensure more people get the care they need and reduce pressure on the Queen Alexandra and other local hospitals.” Caroline Dinenage MP
Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, has today welcomed news that additional funding has been allocated to help reduce social care delays and to speed up discharges from hospital.
Hampshire County Council (which covers the Gosport Constituency) has been awarded an additional £4.7 million and Portsmouth City Council will receive £890,417 - all of which will help free up hospital beds and get people back into their communities with the right package of care during the busy winter months.
This funding builds on the Better Care Fund which has seen delays fall by 39% nationally with improvements across Hampshire.
Commenting Caroline said:
“With winter just around the corner it is vital that our health and social care system is ready. The Government have also allocated £145M to NHS Trust’s to improve winter resilience, to upgrade wards and increase bed numbers. With an additional £17 million to improve operating theatre capacity at the local hospitals, all supporting our local NHS to be better prepared this winter. My constituents deserve nothing less but the very best care and this will make a tangible difference in delivering that.”
