Local MP Caroline Dinenage has welcomed news of a funding boost for the Gosport charity Home-Start.
The charity, which supports young families facing stress in Gosport and Fareham, is to receive £8,738 from the Big Lottery Fund.
Caroline said:
“Home-Start makes an invaluable contribution to Gosport and the surrounding area. I am delighted that they will now be able to expand their work supporting some of the most vulnerable families in our society.”
The charity will use the funding to enhance training provision for their mentors so they are better equipped to aid local families in situations such as bereavement and child illness.
The news was particularly welcome to Caroline as a long-term supporter of the voluntary sector in Gosport, and comes after she addressed over 40 local charities and voluntary groups at the Community Compact Conference in Gosport last month.
