Local MP Caroline Dinenage commended the Big Lottery Fund in announcing its biggest single investment in older people with a £110 million package of Lottery good-cause funding.
The Silver Dreams Fund is looking for innovative ideas across the South East region to help older people manage life-changing events and encourage more involvement in local communities.
Caroline has been a longstanding campaigner on issues affecting older people and welcomed today’s announcement, she said “Older people make a valuable contribution to our community and I am proud that many people choose Gosport to settle down and retire in. I would strongly urge my constituents to apply to this fantastic scheme and I am sure it will have a positive effect on the region”.
From today the Fund is looking for applications for up to 30 innovative ideas for schemes that will help older people. The top five flagship ideas will receive up to an additional £1 million to scale up their project.
Interested organisations have until Friday, 28 October to submit outline ideas for the Silver Dreams Fund. Successful applicants will receive between £50,000 and £200,000 to test and develop their ideas over the next 12 to 18 months. Up to five projects will then be chosen to receive up to £1 million each to carry their ideas forward.
