Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, joined colleagues in Westminster to show her support for Safer Gambling Week 2021.
Safer Gambling Week, which takes place from 1st – 7th November, is an annual, cross-industry initiative promoting safer gambling. It is supported by the Gambling Commission and the Government, as well as leading charities YGAM and GamCare.
The campaign is led by the Betting and Gambling Council, the Bingo Association and bacta, the amusement machine trade association. The aim of the campaign is to trigger a national conversation about safer gambling, highlighting the tools, advice and help available to customers to help them stay in control of their betting.
The key themes for SGW21 are only spend what you can afford, set your limits for time and money, gambling is not the answer to any problem and gambling shouldn’t interfere with your personal relationships.
Commenting, Caroline said:
“I was happy to join the Betting and Gaming Council in Westminster to show my support for Safer Gambling Week 2021. These activities can be fun but can sometimes get out of control and that can cause misery, damaging lives and relationships. it is really important that my constituents are aware of the safer gambling tools that are available, as well as where to get information and support.”
Michael Dugher, Chief Executive of the Betting and Gaming Council said
“I would like to thank Caroline for joining us in Westminster to show his/her support for Safer Gambling Week 2021. We know that rates of problem gambling are low and are now falling, which is great news, but Safer Gambling Week is further evidence of the industry’s continued determination to keep on raising standards. For the regulated industry, safer gambling isn’t just an issue for one week of the year, it’s our top priority all year round.”
