Local MP Caroline Dinenage is encouraging people to give up smoking today, as she lends her support to No Smoking Day 2013.
Caroline is backing the annual health campaign, run by the British Heart Foundation, which has revealed how much smokers could benefit if they quit for a day, saving £7, a week (£49), a month (£210) and a year (£2,555).
Speaking after the launch, Caroline said:
"Stopping smoking is not only one of the best things you can do to boost your health, it's also great for your bank balance.
Kicking the habit can be very difficult, but there is free help out there. There are lots of great organisations that can provide smokers with the support they need to quit smoking for good."
