Local MP Caroline Dinenage continued to push her skills agenda in the House of Commons today as she spoke up in support of the Education Business Partnership. The EBP work to create links between schools and businesses to help make sure that young people have the skills they need to succeed in the world of work.
Speaking in a debate in the House of Commons Caroline said,
"As the Minister said it's vital that schools forge strong links with businesses so that school leavers are not just literate and numerate but also employable. Does he agree that organisations such as the Education Business Partnership often can play a significant role in building these links?"
Matt Hancock, Minister for Skills, welcomed the news that there is a wide array of organisations helping to broker links between employers and education.
Speaking outside the Chamber Caroline commented, "Organisations like the Portsmouth Education Business Partnership do excellent work bringing together schools, colleges, and businesses, and giving young people a real understanding of what employers are looking for. These links are absolutely vital so that our young people leave school with the right approach to work and the appropriate set of skills to get on in life and achieve their potential."
