Caroline Dinenage, MP for Gosport, has spoken out in reaction to the Navy job losses today.
With around 1,020 naval personnel being informed of their redundancy today, Caroline spoke to the British Forces Broadcasting Service to express her regret with the job losses.
During the interview, Caroline said:
“While all job-losses are regrettable, in the Armed Forces they are all the more upsetting as these people are putting their lives on the line for us.”
Caroline went on to note that it was “slightly comforting” that two thirds of the redundancies were voluntary. She also highlighted the pressing need to future proof our Armed Forces, a need completely neglected by the previous Labour Government who allowed 12 years to elapse without a defence review.
