Local MP Caroline Dinenage encourages local residents to sign up to Join Dementia Research, to help fight back against Dementia.
Join Dementia Research has been set up to support dementia patients and their carer’s, families and friends. The service promises to accelerate the pace of dementia research by making it easier for people to participate. They found almost two thirds of people are interested in taking part in research, yet less than one in five know how to.
Join Dementia Research is a national service that is designed to match participants to appropriate research studies using your personal information, ranging from clinical studies to surveys. They offer a broad range of studies depending on your situation and match partakers to a study on a case-by-case basis. Anyone, with or without dementia, can register their interest as a volunteer as long as they are over 18 years old. You can also sign up someone else, as long as you are acting in their best interest.
Caroline commented:
“Every three minutes someone is diagnosed with Dementia and it is becoming a leading cause of death. We all know someone who has been affected and seen the terrible consequences that it has had, not only the patient, but the carer, family and friends. Join Dementia Research offers an easy and ethically approved way for anyone to take part in research to help beat Dementia. I am delighted that this programme offers people the opportunity to get involved in something that can benefit patients, carers and future generations. It provides an opportunity to access new treatments, take part in a valuable cause and fight back against the disease.”
