Since the outbreak of Covid-19 in March, the Royal Mail have remained open, with postmen and women across the country working flat out to keep communities connected, workplaces as open as possible and delivering essential supplies. Apart from their normal duties, many are also helping those who cannot leave home by delivering essential prescriptions and helping with hospital appointments.
Local MP, Caroline Dinenage, is participating in the Royal Mail’s ‘Thumbs Up’ campaign looking to thank all the incredible posties for their hard work this National Postal Workers Day, and encouraging constituents to get involved. The Royal Mail is asking everyone to share their selfies and to decorate their windows with a thumbs up picture, the more creative the better!
Caroline commented:
“Already we have seen an incredible response from our community showing their gratitude to our key workers and NHS staff. But there is so much more going on behind the scenes, from those working for Councils and in job centres to bin men and, importantly, our posties!
“With my #spreadtherainbow social media campaign I know so many residents across Gosport are decorating their windows to thank our key workers, so it is time to get creative again with the finger paints and crayons and recognise the important work our postmen and women do.”
