Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage is at the forefront of promoting local growth in Parliament.
Caroline has been elected by fellow Parliamentarians as the Vice-Chairman of the new All-Party Parliamentary Group for Local Growth, Enterprise Zones and LEPs. The group, founded by Conservative MP Brandon Lewis, will work with community stakeholders to drive the local growth agenda in Parliament.
The move follows hot on the heels of Caroline’s successful campaign for the Daedalus site in Gosport to be designated as an Enterprise Zone. Just this week, Caroline has also secured an important confirmation from the Communities and Local Government Minister Greg Clark that existing businesses in the Enterprise Zone would enjoy the same 100% business rate exemption benefits as new ones.
Speaking after the meeting, Caroline said:
“This Government has taken bold steps to empower local communities to drive their own growth agendas. This group will ensure that our policies can deliver the best results for all stakeholders, so we can secure rapid but sustainable growth for the future”.
The inaugural meeting of the APPG, which brought together MPs, Lords, and Council and LEP representatives, was addressed by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Eric Pickles, who praised its potential to aid long-term growth.
