Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage is urging local people to sign up for the Gosport Heritage Open Days which will run from 10th-13th September.
The series of events is once-a-year chance to discover architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities that bring Gosport’s history and culture to life. Bookings for the 35 events taking place during the Open Days will be available from the Gosport Discovery Centre from 9am on Saturday 15th August.
Highlights from last year include tours of Fort Blockhouse, HMS Sultan, Fort Rowner and Royal Clarence Yard whilst new to the bill this year is a twilight tour of HMS Alliance.
Caroline commented:
“The Heritage Open Days give local people a unique insight into the history of our area by opening up the sites which have a real story to tell about Gosport’s role in events of historic significance.
With so many exciting events on offer there is something for all the family so I would really encourage local people to get down to the Discovery Centre on Saturday and put their names down.”
From Sunday 16th August, booking can be done by email (tickets@gosportheritage.co.uk) or by telephone to the Tourist Information Centre (023 9252 2944). A full list of events can be found here: www.gosportheritage.co.uk.
