Local MP Caroline Dinenage is calling on people from across Hampshire to nominate someone who has made a difference to the community to be a Torchbearer during the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay.
The 70-day Relay, which starts on 18 May 2012, will see the Torch carried hundreds of miles by 8,000 inspirational Torchbearers. With the Olympic Torch due to pass through the Hampshire area during this period, Caroline is working hard to convince officials that Gosport should be given the opportunity to host the Torch too.
Caroline said: “This is a great opportunity for people in Hampshire to get involved in the 2012 Olympics. I encourage everyone to nominate an inspirational local figure to represent the community in this exciting, once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
