Gosport MP Caroline Dinenage has praised an initiative being run by The Abbeyfield Society to tackle loneliness this Christmas.
As part of the 'Coping at Christmas' campaign, Tamar House and Privett Farm House in Gosport (both Abbeyfield homes) are inviting older people in the local area to join residents for a free festive meal or overnight stay.
Speaking in support of the scheme, Caroline said:
"For many people, Christmas is a very difficult time of year, which is why I am pleased that local Abbeyfield houses will be opening their doors to elderly people who would otherwise be alone over the festive period.
It is community spirit such as this which really makes Christmas a special time of year."
The Abbeyfield Society is a charitable organisation operating globally to improve the lives of older people. You can find out more about the Coping at Christmas campaign at www.abbeyfield.com/get-involved/coping-at-christmas
