General Comments

- Most oppose the Criterion project, viewing it as a poor investment. 

- Opposition to housing developments that lack sufficient local infrastructure, such as schools and healthcare. 

 - Calls for better public transport, especially cross-town links within Gosport. 

 - Desire for improved cycle paths, wider pavements, and traffic calming measures for pedestrian and cyclist safety. 

 - Concerns about flood protection and sea defences, particularly in coastal areas. 

Town Centre / High Street Regeneration 

 - The High Street is perceived as run-down, empty, and lacking vibrancy. 

 - There is a strong community desire to attract more businesses, especially independent shops, cafes, and major retailers. 

 - Many suggest reducing or eliminating parking charges to boost footfall and local commerce. 

 - The Criterion project is widely viewed as a misallocation of funds; many believe resources should be redirected to the High Street. 

 - Success stories from places like Lymington and Brockhurst Gate are frequently cited as models for effective regeneration. 

Parking Issues 

 - Parking fees are considered too high, discouraging both residents and visitors. 

 - There is a strong call for offering 2 hours of free parking, especially in town centres and at the seafront. 

 - Residents request free or discounted parking permits. 

 - Verge and pavement parking are problematic, viewed as dangerous, and poorly enforced. 

Maintenance & Infrastructure

 - Many comments highlight poor upkeep, including grass cutting, hedge trimming, verge maintenance, and overgrown paths. 

 - Roads and pavements are in poor condition, with potholes, uneven surfaces, and neglected areas, notably in Stokes Bay, Stanley Park, and Jellicoe Avenue. 

 - Residents express frustration over slow or inadequate responses from Streetscene or local authorities when issues are reported. 

Policing and Anti-Social Behaviour 

 - There is a strong desire for increased police visibility in the town centre and seafront areas. 

 - Concerns focus on youth loitering, vandalism, drug misuse, bike and scooter theft, and overall crime. 

 - Calls for better law enforcement and quicker response to reports are common. 

Public Spaces & Play Areas

 - Families frequently mention that children’s play areas are neglected, outdated, or missing equipment. 

 - Requests for new or improved playgrounds, particularly at Stokes Bay and Stanley Park. 

 - Some community members seek dedicated teen facilities or safe spaces for older children to gather.
