Your money. Spent properly. We will rebuild trust and confidence in the Council through transparent decision-making, responsible spending, and restore honesty and common sense. Every pound spent will deliver value for residents. How: • Be open and transparent in council decision-making • Focus spending on practical improvements residents can see and use • Conduct a full review of council spending to identify waste and improve value for money • Cancel the failed Criterion project and investigate how public money has been spent • Act urgently to improve council housing conditions and standards for residents.
Place. People. Jobs. A thriving Gosport for all. We will revitalise our town centre and waterfront while strengthening the wider local economy, supporting businesses, attracting investment, and creating more local job opportunities across the whole borough, including Lee-on-the-Solent and our neighbourhood centres. How: • Get the Local Plan back on track to protect employment land, require job-creating space, and support balanced communities with transparency around HMOs • Use regeneration to bring empty shops and underused buildings back into productive use • Support local and neighbourhood high streets, ensuring growth benefits every part of Gosport • Encourage higher-value jobs through mixed-use developments with workspace, studios, and small business units • Target investment where it delivers the strongest economic benefit, not vanity projects • Deliver sensible waterfront regeneration that strengthens the visitor economy and town centre • Work with the Combined Authority to improve skills, infrastructure, and connectivity that support local employment
Parking charges should support our town – not punish residents and visitors. We will simplify and freeze parking charges to boost local trade, support residents and visitors, make our town and seafront more accessible, and increase footfall. How: • Freeze parking charges in our first year to support residents, visitors, and local trade. • Restore fairer charging hours and revert to 2022 chargeable times. • Encourage footfall for shops, cafés, and the seafront with parking initiatives
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and community. We will tackle anti-social behaviour and crime through better lighting, expanded CCTV coverage, and closer partnership with local policing, ensuring Gosport is a safe, welcoming place to live, work, and visit. How: • Restore live CCTV monitoring across key areas • Improve lighting in parks and public spaces • Work closely with police to tackle anti-social behaviour and act quickly on crime, vandalism, and nuisance reports • Review enforcement and park patrols
Health, well-being, and community first. We will invest in parks, play areas, and sports facilities to promote health, inclusion, and community well-being. Clean, safe, and well-maintained public spaces will be central to Gosport’s renewal. How: • Invest in parks, play areas, and sports facilities • Freeze sports fee’s in our first year and undertake a full review of charges • Make leisure affordable and good value for families and older residents • Keep public spaces clean, safe, and well-maintained • Create places young people are proud to use
Protect and promote our heritage, history, and local pride. Safeguard Gosport’s green spaces, coastline, and heritage while improving cleanliness, maintenance, and sustainability. How: • Protect green spaces, coastline, and heritage assets • Improve cleanliness and tackle fly-tipping • Strengthen flood resilience where needed • Work with Hampshire County Council to improve highways and infrastructure • Ensure future development respects Gosport’s character • Development must be right for Gosport. We’ll oppose overdevelopment, unless local services and residents come first. • We reject the expansion of the Immigration Centre and propose that any surplus MOD land is used for the benefit of local people.
